On Sunday, August 16th at 2 PM, the third anniversary of the ground-breaking for the new stadium and the start of the clock on the promises made by Randy Levine (Yankees President) in the Community Benefits Agreement, the South Bronx community will take back the stadium by encircling it with a human chain of at least 600 people. The first links will be joined at 161 St. & River Avenue in front of the Yankee store.
“Yankee management has to live up to its promises concerning the old/new stadium's construction, parks (replacement family parks not athletic fields), community financial supports ($2.4 million), and jobs (25% of all construction, demolition and stadium jobs). More importantly, Yankee management has to recognize that for almost 100 times a year, South and West Bronx residents must lead their lives based on the the activities at the stadium as a result of parking restrictions, street closings and detours, traffic jams, bus and subway delays, noise and pollution”, stated Robert Carrillo, the Coalition Chairperson. “Moreover, the underlying and real issue is the lack of respect that Yankee management has for the Bronx communities that immediately surround the stadium(s)”, he continued.

The 4DSBxCoalition (For the South Bronx Coalition) is a group of veteran community organizers and emerging leaders who are working to revitalize the Yankee Stadium(s) campaign with an eye to keeping the South and West Bronx communities affordable and sustainable for the people that live and work there.
